Privacy Policy

Playhouse Studios, Inc. (“Playhouse” or “we”) care about being transparent about how we collect and process your information. This statement (the “Privacy Policy”) sets forth our policies and practices for handling your information when you use Playhouse apps and services that include authorized links to this Privacy Policy (the “Services”).

I.             COLLECTION OF INFORMATION

We may collect the following categories of information when you use our Services, like when you download and use the Services:

  • Information you give us directly:
    • Contact information, including your first and last name, mobile phone number, and email address.
    • Profile information, including your name, date of birth, gender identity, sexual preferences, your job and education, and other information you provide us when you create or update your profile.
    • User content and communications, including comments, messages, posts, feedback, and photographs or videos.  For example, some of our Services are part of an entertainment network that is designed to bring unscripted shows to social platforms for streaming (the “Entertainment Network”).  We collect the photographs, videos, and other content that you film, capture, and otherwise submit when you submit an audition, submit a tip, participate in production, or otherwise participate in these Services.
    • Commercial information, including records of products or services you have obtained or interacted with through our Services.
    • Geolocation information, including so that we can connect you with other users in your area, among other features.
    • Information about your friends, if you choose to import and sync your address book, so that we can help you find and connect with people you know and help others find and connect with you, among other features.
    • What you send to us, like questions about the Services, our Terms and Conditions, or this Privacy Policy and information that you send to us via “tips” or other communications.
  • Information we collect automatically. We collect some data automatically from you, like what kind of phone you have, your IP address, your operating system, your internet service provider, and how you get to our website, the date and time of your visit, what links you click, the pages you view, and standard log information. To the extent we show you ads in the app, we might keep track of how you interact with those ads. We also collect information that helps us detect errors in our apps so you can have a more seamless experience on the Services, like if and when your device receives an error, what feature you were using, or what may have caused it. If you’ve given us permission, we also may collect photos and contacts from your phone. We also collect other information about how you use the Services, like your interactions with other users, and other inferences about you and your preferences.

We also receive some of the categories of information described above from other sources, including third-party services and organizations. We also may collect information from your social media accounts, including feedback about our apps and the shows and talent on our Entertainment Network or if you link your social media account to a profile.

Without this information, we may not be able to provide you with all the requested services, and any differences in services are related to your information.

We may aggregate or de-identify the information described above. Aggregated or de-identified data is not subject to this Privacy Policy.

II.           USE OF INFORMATION AND PURPOSE OF DATA PROCESSING

We use and otherwise process each of the categories of information identified above for the following business purposes:

We will only process your information where we have a valid legal basis to do so or when we have your consent, which may subsequently be withdrawn at any time by contacting us. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before it is withdrawn.

Where we need to collect information by law, or under the terms of a contract we have with you and you fail to provide that data when requested, we may not be able to perform the contract we have or are trying to enter into with you (for example, to provide you with access to the Services). In this case, we may cancel a product or service you have with us.

III.         STREAMING CONTENT AND SOCIAL ENGAGEMENT

The Entertainment Network is designed to stream shows and distribute content on widely distributed media, some of which are publicly available.  As a result, if you audition for or are selected to participate in a show for our Entertainment Network, your audition tape, other recordings of you, and other information and content relating to you may be accessible on widely distributed sites and services, such as when a show is streamed on social media.  This includes any information that you submit in relation to a show on our Entertainment Network, which may be streamed or published on widely distributed sites and services.

Other portions of the Services are designed for social engagement which means that information about your activities on social areas of the Services may be accessible to other users of the Service and messages that you send via the Services will be accessible to other users. For example, some activity on the Services may be public, including some aspects of your public profile. Please be thoughtful when participating in social features, especially before sharing any sensitive information.

To personalize your experience, we may use your information, such as your telephone number and, if you choose to import it, address book information, to enhance your experience in various ways, which may include to recommend other users to you and to recommend you to others.

IV.         DISCLOSURE OF INFORMATION

We also want you to understand that we may share your information in other ways.

  • Authorized third-party vendors and service providers. We share your information with third-party vendors and service providers that provide services to us for a variety of business purposes, such as billing, payment processing, customer service, security and performance monitoring, research, data hosting, auditing, and data processing.
  • Production partners and other similar business partners. When you participate in Services that are part of our Entertainment Network, such as by submitting an audition tape or filming, we may share your media and other information with business partners involved in the production of shows, including third-party producers and others that edit content for the show.
  • Corporate affiliates. We may share your information with our corporate affiliates.
  • Business transfers. We may share your information in connection with a substantial corporate transaction, such as the sale of our website or application, a merger, consolidation, asset sale, initial public offering, or in the unlikely event of bankruptcy.
  • Legal purposes. We may disclose information to respond to subpoenas, court orders, legal process, law enforcement requests, legal claims or government inquiries, and to protect and defend the rights, interests, safety, and security of users, or the public.
  • With your consent. We may share information for any other purposes disclosed to you at the time we collect the information or pursuant to your consent.

If you access third-party services, such as social media services through the Services, such as to login or share information about your experience on our Services with others, these third-party services may be able to collect information about you, including information about your activity on the Services, and they may notify your connections on the third-party services about your use of the Services, in accordance with their own privacy policies.

Playhouse Studios, Inc. does not sell your information or share your information with third parties for purposes of serving you ads based on your activity on other sites and services (“targeted advertising”). Playhouse Studios, Inc. might permit third parties to collect, or disclose to those third parties, some of the information described above for some business purposes as described in this Privacy Policy, like for our own data analytics purposes. The information practices of these third parties are not covered by this Privacy Policy.

V.           AUTOMATED DECISION-MAKING

We may use automated decision-making technologies to support our data processing activities. For example, in an effort to make our Services a safer space for our users, we may use automated decision-making capabilities to monitor accounts, messages, and live or recorded content, so that we can identify inappropriate imagery or language or later review for violations of our community guidelines. By using this logic, we can block accounts that breach our Terms of Use. Depending on the circumstances, you may or may not receive notice that some of your content has been blocked. If your account is blocked, affected users can contact Playhouse Studios, Inc. to contest the decision.

VI.         COOKIES AND SIMILAR TECHNOLOGIES

When you use our Services, we and our vendors including data analytics providers, use cookies, pixel tags, local storage, and other similar technologies (collectively, “cookies”) to collect information from your browser or device. By using the Services, you consent to our use of cookies and similar technologies.

The following types of cookies are used on our Services:

  • Essential cookies – These cookies enable you to use our Services. These cookies allow you to browse our Services and use certain features. Disabling them may prevent you from using certain parts of the Services. For example, without these cookies, we cannot ensure the prompt loading of pages and seamless navigation of our mobile app. These cookies also help keep our Services safe and secure.
  • Preference cookies – These cookies store information such as your preferred country and language selection, login data and website preferences. Without these cookies, our Services may not be able to remember certain choices you've previously made (such as a saved country / language preference) or personalize your mobile app experience by providing you with relevant information. These cookies can also be used to recognize your device so that you do not have to provide the same information more than once.
  • Performance/analytics cookies – Some Playhouse sites use these cookies to collect information about how you use our Services such as which pages you visit regularly and from which sites you came to the Services. These cookies are used to provide you with a high-quality experience by doing things such as tracking page load, site response times, and error messages and to help us improve the Services.
  • Content / advertising cookies – We also reserve the right to use e cookies to provide you with more relevant content and advertising on our Services and elsewhere online and across your devices. These also may be used to gather feedback on customer satisfaction through surveys. Some of these cookies may be from third parties that collect information about your use of our Services in order to provide Playhouse advertisements (on our Services and elsewhere) based on your online activities (so-called "interest-based advertising") on our Services and elsewhere online based on users’ online activities over time and across different sites, services, and devices. We do not control the privacy practices of these third parties, and their practices are not covered by this Privacy Policy.   Our use of these technologies and the choices available to you may vary across geographies and Services. 

You may be able to refuse or disable cookies by adjusting your web browser settings. Some browsers have options that allow the visitor to control whether the browser will accept cookies, reject cookies, or notify the visitor each time a cookie is sent. Because each web browser is different, please consult the instructions provided by your web browser (typically in the “help” section). If you choose to refuse, disable, or delete these technologies, some of the functionality of the Services may no longer be available to you and any differences in service are related to the data. Deleting cookies may in some cases cancel the opt out selection in your browser.

Do-Not-Track Signals and Similar Mechanisms. Some mobile and web browsers transmit "do-not-track" signals. Because of differences in how web browsers incorporate and activate this feature, it is not always clear whether users intend for these signals to be transmitted, or whether they even are aware of them. We currently do not take action in response to these signals.

VII.       YOUR RIGHTS AND CHOICES

Data Subject Rights

You may be entitled, in accordance with applicable law, to request:

  • access to, erasure, and portability of your information;
  • correction of your information (which you should do if you become aware of changes or inaccuracies in your information);
  • more information about our information practices; and
  • to object to or restrict processing of your information.

You also may be entitled to lodge a complaint with the appropriate data protection authority if you have concerns about our handling of personal information. Requests should be submitted in writing as set out below.

Once we receive your request, we will verify your request. We may require you to input a verification code that is sent to you. You may be entitled, in accordance with applicable law, to submit a request through an authorized agent. To designate an authorized agent to exercise your rights and choices on your behalf, please email us at support@playhousestudios.com. You may appeal any decision we have made about your request by replying to the communication you receive from us communicating your decision.

Additional Choices

You also may be able to control our collection and use of your location information through your mobile device or app settings.

We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights and choices, although some of the functionality and features available on the Service may change or no longer be available to you. Any difference in the Services are related to the value provided.

You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority if you believe our processing of your information is unlawful.

VIII. INTERNATIONAL TRANSFERS

By using the Services and providing us with information, you understand and agree that we may transfer and store your information on servers located outside your resident jurisdiction. To the extent you are a resident of a country other than the United States, where appropriate under local law, you consent to the transfer of such data to the United States for processing by us in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Some of the entities (such as third-party vendors) to which we disclose information may be located outside of the EEA, including in the United States and countries that may not provide the same level of data protection as your home country. We take appropriate steps to ensure that such personnel and third-party vendors are bound to duties of confidentiality, and that these entities implement measures such as standard data protection contractual clauses to ensure that any transferred information, remains protected and secure. IX.         CHILDREN

We do not knowingly collect or sell any information from children, as defined by applicable law, without parental consent or as otherwise permitted by applicable law. 

X.           DATA RETENTION, SECURITY, AND INTEGRITY

We will retain your information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes set out above and in accordance with applicable laws, considering criteria such as the duration of our relationship with you and whether retention is required due to a legal obligation, litigation, or regulatory investigation.

We maintain reasonable security measures to safeguard information from loss, theft interference, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, or destruction. We also maintain reasonable procedures to help ensure that such data is reliable for its intended use and is accurate, complete, and current. You should understand that no data storage system or transmission of data over the Internet or any other public network can be guaranteed to be 100 percent secure, accurate, complete, or current. Please note that information collected by third parties may not have the same security protections as information you submit to us, and we are not responsible for protecting the security of such information.

XI.         CHANGES TO THE PRIVACY POLICY

We may modify this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we update the Privacy Policy, we will revise the “Effective Date” date above and post the new Privacy Policy. We recommend that you review the Privacy Policy each time you visit the Services to stay informed of our privacy practices.
